While we all recovered from our Christmas pleasures there was a startling news article that The Daily Mail published on 26 December, Boxing Day.
The article is about a known child who is a sexual predator who allegedly violated another child and the executive services, schools, police crown prosecution service, health and social services failing to place the child on the sex offenders register. The attacks took place at school and the child’s home. The court outcome allowed the child predator to remain ‘in the community’ totally ignoring the violated child’s needs or the fight the family has endured. Have the authorities made the local community aware that their children are also potentially at risk as he is not in a secure environment? (www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1238422)
It seems this family has been procedurally obstructed and hindered at every turn. Why is it in our country innocent decent people are bullied, patronised and denied justice while unprofessional practice that places children and adults at risk escape the courts and public accountability? If the article is correct we should all support this family and expect our country’s criminal justice system to begin to function properly and robustly.
All credit to The Daily Mail for raising the concerns but what unravelled requires far greater public awareness and accountability of executive officers that have stonewalled the family and allegedly trivialised the suffering of their sexually violated child. These senior officials should face charges or at least dismissal. We all need to encourage The Daily Mail of other national media to take-up this news story to make authorities publicly accountable. An innocent child has not received justice!
