Today, unexpectedly I was sacked and physically escorted and removed from a policy-procedure job without any reasons. It was a degrading and shocking experience especially over and done within less than two-minutes. I’m employed and respected for my diligence to the safeguarding of vulnerable people from writing policies, decades of experience to ensuring the individual public’s protection and access to justice.
The east London borough suggest ‘I could not do the job’- been there two-weeks – but refused to say why I was sacked – or terminated – as they preferred to call it; but also said ‘we do not have to give a reason to temporary staff.’ The district has a complex vulnerable population with substantially inadequate statutory responses including policies, forms and competent staff to the point I had to provide very basic form-filling and advice and show how to write legally adequate minutes of the meeting.
Over twenty-hours was spent preparing staff before the meeting. My minutes remain an accurate reflection albeit another humiliating reflection of ineffectual managers and lack-lustre interactions by professionals. The minutes were appalling, staff behaviour unprofessional in the meeting nor an accurate account documented of the meeting. I had no option but to write the minutes professionally and legal account. As an accurate account it showed how bad the response of the services to this family had been since February 2009. Unsurprisingly the family is disinclined to trust or use statutory services but my chaired meeting created a direct safeguarding action plan.
I was sacked for doing my job well, legally and with the safety of a vulnerable family central beyond the egos’ of uninspiring staff and ambivalent senior managers. My understanding is one of smears from a senior manager is ‘you know he’s a bit mad’. It is time to find a robust, uncompromising solicitor and barrister in employment law and defamation.
If this is what happens to professional experienced staff what else is covered-up and careers destroyed by insinuation and smearing? What happens to the needs of the vulnerable ignored while over-paid managers protect themselves?
I did a job well and was punished (again) for doing so! What types of people are being employed to undertake social justice and need as they appear disinclined towards compassion or effectiveness? If you don’t care why are you in health and social care?
Are we supposed to simply look away and take the money or be genuine accountable public servants? Interestingly, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) was there for two-week and made directly aware so if the Authority achieves more than one star we can assume the system is disinclined to justice for the vulnerable; especially an authority that is unable to provide accurate statistics! Will the CQC use it powers for justice or provide another veneer? Meanwhile the vulnerable stay unheard, unsafe and un-helped!!
Meantime … anyone needing a safe pair of policy-procedure hands to employ here I am!! I look forward to hearing from successful employment and defamation solicitors and barristers as this is only episode one in what will be played-out in the media public arena – until I am satisfied my name and career is no longer smeared.
